In February we host a puzzle competition and had a blast!
The doors opened at 5:30, teams of four showed up anytime between then at 7:00 to socialize together, have a round of drinks, be it soda, coffee, or alcohol, and enjoy a pizza. By 7:00 teams were prepared to puzzle!
Pizza choices included meatlovers, spring chicken, sausage and mushroom, vegetarian, or deluxe.
There was laughing and talking and then it was time to get serious. Once the rules were explained and the timer started, all you heard was the unwrapping of the puzzles, followed by total silence as teams focused!
The puzzle is 500 pieces and each team has their own strategy, some start with different sections, others on the boarder, but regardless, if you were serious about the puzzle, you were busy! Several teams were neck and neck. We had a winner at 38 mins. This team was a first time competitor and beat out last years first place. “The piece makers” What made them most unique was that for most of the time they were puzzling one team member was always holding a baby! I’m not sure how old the baby was, but he was definitely not over 3 mos. He was a really good baby just letting himself be held while they focused.
First Place, “The Piece Makers”
Second place “Getting jiggy with it” came in just one minute later
Second Place, “Getting Jiggy with it”
First place included a prize valued at over $100 including gift certificates, puzzles, games, and candy. Second place included $65 in similar prizes. It was a good time! Some teams stayed as late as 8:30, but all finished the puzzle and enjoyed themselves!
We love hosting these events and all the fun that is had! We will do it again next February, if you are interested in knowing when it happens, fill out our contact form and let us know to add you to the mailing list!
