Makers Market

There is so much I need to tell you! I want to tell you about our Pizza and donuts and how they are just getting to be so fun and how much we love your support (Thank you!) I want to tell you how it’s almost been 2 years since we first unlocked the doors to what is now the Rose House (hopefully I will talk about that soon), I want to tell you we have had a whirlwind of October with weddings and all that we love and how it all went. I want to tell you about the incredible staff we have and of course how much we all love you! But I can’t right now…Right now I am prompted to write about our upcoming Maker’s Market! You need to know about it so you can come, and we can chat, and I can tell you about all that other good stuff. But hopefully I will just get a little better about blogging in the very near future!

So, we are hosting a COVID conscious Makers Market and it’s THIS Saturday! If I am telling you about it too last minute, I am not surprised, and I’m sorry! But it’s okay, because after the market we are going to work on getting you online resources so you can still shop and we are doing a second Makers Market on December 12.

A Maker’s Market is when the creators of a craft (Makers) bring their crafts and sell them in what we can call a temporary Market. A covid conscience Market is one where we are aware of the need to be careful. We of course encourage masks, have our vendors spaced out, are providing sanitizer, and keeping a one way flow of traffic, at 25% Capacity we are able to permit 50 guests at a time, for this reason we are not providing much in terms of seating, we want you to be comfortable and stay and chat with the vendors and shop leisurely, but if we see we are close to our capacity we will of course have to encourage people to continue moving (ugh!) we know most shoppers don’t shop too long, so there is no rush, we know there will be a flow of traffic, and chances are we will not have any capacity issues. Please know our market is as safe as shopping anywhere else, and by attending you will be such a support and encouragement to a handful of small businesses. Thank you for that!

About our Makers:

Stephon Freeman, owner of KibA Freeman Art.

“I create landscapes and scenery using spray paint on canvas, wood panels, and puzzles. I started using spray paint to create after experiencing the process while on a summer study abroad trip to Italy. As I got closer to graduating from UWSP In 2014, I started experimenting and learning more with spray paint. I’ve been experimenting since. My goal is to create fun and whimsical worlds for the viewers to escape to by continuing to tap into my imagination (with the help of my daughter).”

Shannon Hainzlsperger, owner and creator of Urban Elements Design Co. “I started this business because of my passion for Decorating and Design. It was a dream I had for many many years, but was so hesitant to take the plunge. Once Covid-19 struck and shut down our family owned business, I took it as a sign to get my dream finally up and running! I haven't regretted it for a second and am so glad I made that decision. My husband has been my biggest fan and support, without him I probably wouldn't have had the courage to do so! There are two aspects to Urban Elements Design Co. First I love to design and create beautiful spaces! I am a Sherwin Williams Pro painter. I know painting, yuck right! But It's so rewarding to help customers get a room painted with beautiful colors that they have always wanted! The Second aspect is my handmade décor items! This is where my creative juices really get to flow and my true passion lies!!! I create unique one of a kind handmade Wisconsin signs, wall decor, pillows, floral arrangements, wreaths and seasonal items. It gives me such satisfaction to create beautiful pieces that people can admire for years to come!”

Shane Zach, owner of Freshwater Jade. We asked him to share a little bit about his business and this is what he had to say:

“I am a lapidary artist, specializing in Nephrite and Jadeite Jade. My work ranges from intricate carvings, to simple forms that highlight the qualities of the stone. With a tendency towards Jewelry, I create pendants, earrings, bracelets, and beads from Jade. I am inspired by the stone, its natural beauty, and the rich history of stone carving around the world.

My business has slowly grown from a hobby and passion to a full time job. Lately I spend my time between commissioned work, and the occasional pursuit of personal projects. Initially drawn towards Jade carving by the pacific Island Maori Jade carvers, my interests have grown wider to encompass the world wide culture of Jade.”

Madison Rafter, a local stained glass artist. “I’ve been making glass pieces for about 4 years now. I try to make unique pieces that will fit right at home. I started getting into glass when I was in high school. I took a class on a whim and fell in love with the art. I bought my studio about a year later . I really enjoy making glass as a creative outlet and to be able to make a piece to that people are able to fall in love with!”
